Poor, sweet Barb was really dealt a bad hand in the first season of Stranger Things. Barb was all of us at school, just trying to make her way, to fit in. She had dreams, dammit! She was just being a good friend to Nancy, who never really appreciated her, as teenagers tend to do. And Barb, who really had no part in this, was another victim of the senseless violence from the Upside Down. Her death was meaningless and tragic—collateral damage that went largely ignored. They had the entire goddamn town looking for Will Byers. Police, search parties, fliers! The whole shebang. But what about when Barb went missing? Not a word.

There was no justice for Barb.

Until now. Shannon Purser, who played Barb Holland, has been nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series category.

"I love Barb, and I love the character and I had a great time, and I thought maybe a couple people would notice me and think that she was a fun character," Purser told Esquire about the fan response to Barb. "And then to wake up and see all these tweets and Instagram posts and all this support for her... It was so surreal, so amazing."

She might not be in Stranger Things season two, she might not win up against Ann Dowd as Patti Levin in The Leftovers, but at least for a moment, someone remembered Barb.

RIP Barb. You are not forgotten.
