Pablo Escobar is dead, executed by Colombian police at the end of the second season of Narcos. But the demand for drugs remains stronger than ever. And those final words of the season—"Agent Peña, how much do you know about the Cali Cartel?"—set in motion the events of Season Three.

When Narcos returns to Netflix on 1 September, the show shifts its focus to Colombia's Cali Cartel. "While the world was focused on Escobar, Cali became the biggest cocaine cartel in history," Pedro Pascal's Javier Peña says in this first trailer for Narcos' third season. "And to pretend that these guys weren't as evil as the guy who came before them—that's a mistake."

With Escobar gone, Peña and the DEA will begin work with Colombian law enforcement to take down Cali, a cartel with intelligence and spies so vast, it was once compared to the Russian KGB. He has his work cut out for him, taking down the cartel that, at its height, controlled 90 percent of the world's cocaine market.
