Simpsons creator Matt Groening and executive producer Al Jean spoke at Comic-Con ahead of the show's season 29 premiere and talked about politics and the year ahead for our favourite residents of Springfield, and they revealed some interesting stories from behind the scenes of the show, Hollywood Reporter wrote.

When the discussion broached the topic of politics, Groening revealed that 21st Century Fox asked the show to be kinder to Fox News after airing a joke that said the conservative network was "not racist, but No. 1 with racists."

"Then Bill O'Reilly called us pinheads and look what happened," Groening joked, referring to the anchor's spectacular demise. He then turned to the fans and prompted them to chant, "Lock him up!"—a reference to the popular "Lock her up!" chant referring to Hillary Clinton at the Republican National Convention.

Producer Al Jean also mentioned politics when an audience member asked whether they had ever turned down a celebrity cameo. "Let's just say he's the president of the United States," Jean replied.

On tap for season 29 of the show are new adventures for the Simpsons crew, including a storyline mimicking Stephen King's It starring Krusty the Klown and a flash-forward where Lisa travels to New Orleans: "You see where she might wind up, and she might end up with a woman," Simpsons Movie director David Silverman hinted.
