Samuel L Jackson can just about do whatever the hell he likes and he's done exactly that, by kickstarting his TV career no less.

According to Deadline, a series starring Samuel in the lead role is being pitched to the US's major networks and streaming services, including the likes of HBO, FX and Netflix.

Unsurprisingly, there are "multiple offers" already on the table, so you can probably expect to hear news of Old Man being snapped up some time soon.

And no, we're not calling Samuel an Old Man – that's just the name of the new series, which is based on the novel The Old Man by Thomas Perry.

The story follows widower Dan Chase (Jackson), a retiree with a dark secret who suddenly finds himself back in the crosshairs after going on the run in a past life.

It's reported that Black Sails co-creator Jonathan Steinberg and executive producer Warren Littlefield (Fargo; The Handmaid's Tale) will oversee the drama's vision.

While we'll have to wait and see if Jackson makes an appearance on the small screen, it's looking likely that his Nick Fury will be returning to the big screen in the not-so distant future.

Rumour has it that Samuel is getting close to strapping on that infamous eyepatch for the MCU once again, as he's agreed to make an appearance alongside Brie Larson in Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel is expected to hit cinemas next year, but you can also catch Samuel in The Hitman's Bodyguard when it's released on August 18.
