We haven't seen Cersei Lannister's iconic flowing locks since season five of Game of Thrones, following her imprisonment by the High Sparrow.

While all that is in the past now, some fans have taken issue with the fact that her hair hasn't grown back since – and A LOT has happened in that time.

Besides the whole blowing up the Sept of Baelor and ascending to the Iron Throne thing, there was Daenerys crossing the Narrow Sea, and Jon Snow dying, coming back from the dead and taking back Winterfell. It's safe to say a fair bit of time has passed.

But that doesn't mean Cersei's hair has to grow back, as Thrones writer Bryan Cogman has pointed out – maybe she actually wants to keep it short?! Shock! Horror! Seven Hells!

The writer tweeted: "You know... days, weeks even, can pass between scenes in your fave movies and TV shows," to which one user replied that they were judging the time passed on the show by the length of Cersei's hair.

Cogman then followed up by writing: "Also... queens can choose to style their hair short on your fave movies and TV shows!"

So it seems that Cersei has decided to keep the short 'do. Maybe adopting the hairstyle is an empowering way of owning the wrongs done to her?

Given that it's Cersei, it seems an entirely plausible idea.

While the Queen of Westeros is on top of the world right now after a series of victories against Daenerys, one new theory is predicting her downfall – and no, it's not the one you think.

It argues that her super-fan Bernadette, an aid to Cersei, could be a nifty way in to kill the Queen should Arya Stark, with her Faceless Men skills, hear about her loyalty to her boss.
