"Give me another series, you shit..."

Well, it looks like Alan Partridge has finally got his wish – he's officially been given a brand new series on BBC One, as well as a special on BBC Two. Back of the net!

Steve Coogan teased a new outing for the washed-up radio and TV presenter earlier this month, with Alan set to be the face of Brexit. However, whether this is a separate series remains unclear – all we do know is we'll be seeing a lot more of Alan next year.

The new series is set to air in 2018, while the special will be broadcast later this year to mark 25 years since Coogan character's debut on BBC Radio.

Partridge originally moved into TV with spots on The Day Today before getting his own show Knowing Me, Knowing You. TV series I'm Alan Partridge followed, but only ran for two seasons.

Since he has been pretty busy with show Mid-Morning Matters with Alan Partridge, as well as a number of TV specials, books and even a movie in 2013, Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.

Shane Allen, controller of BBC Comedy, said of the new series: "Alan Partridge is in the top tier of comedy characters of all time, it fills my comedy heart with joy to welcome him back to BBC One and BBC Two."

Speaking earlier this month, Coogan explained of returning to the character: "It's always difficult to make good comedy.

"You always have to work really hard at it. The standard of the comedy on Partridge is so high, that you have to match it, or people go, 'Oh, they've lost it'."
