While It hits theatres this weekend (and creepy clowns will occupy your nightmares for the next few weeks), it's not the only Stephen King novel to get a long-anticipated movie adaptation. King's 1992 novel Gerald's Game is a psychological thriller which sees a good-natured sex game go horrifically wrong.

On a weekend vacation to a remote cabin in the woods, Jessie Burlingame (Carla Gugino) and her husband Gerald (Bruce Greenwood) decide to spice things up in the bedroom: Gerald handcuffs his wife to the bed and begins to role play. But tragedy strikes when Gerald has a heart attack and dies on the floor, leaving Jessie trapped in the cabin alone (and soon inside her own head).

While there are no actual monsters in this one, it's still quite a terrifying scenario—one likely pushed to extremes with acclaimed horror director Mike Flanagan at the helm.
