V For Vendetta looks set to be adapted into a TV series for Channel 4, and we frankly cannot contain our excitement.
The project is in the early stages of development, though if it does progress it's a tantalising prospect considering the sprawling nature of Alan Moore's original comic and the advantages of the TV medium.
The original 1980s series by Moore and David Lloyd was previously adapted into the 2005 movie of the same name, which got a mixed reception when released.
However, it is the latest Moore work to be adapted for TV, following the news that HBO has ordered a pilot for Watchmen.
Like that other comic, V For Vendetta is set in a dystopian world, this time following one man who brings down a tyrannical government through an elaborate revenge plot. The character of V himself is modelled on Guy Fawkes.
The original movie starred Hugo Weaving, Natalie Portman, John Hurt and Stephen Rea.
Of course, Channel 4 has had a huge string of success with dramas over the years, with the like of Humans, Black Mirror and Utopia going on to garner critical acclaim.
Hopefully V For Vendetta will get Moore's seal of approval – after all, he asked not to be credited on the 2005 movie.
