Jean-Claude Van Damme stars with Phylicia Rashad in a new action-comedy series from Amazon Studios, and it looks awesome. Strange sentence, sure, but it's totally true.
Here's the premise: JCVD plays a washed-up action star who's trying to get back into the game— resuming not just his movie career, but his secret side job as an international spy. Rashad plays the M to Van Damme's Bond, with Moises Arias of The Middle as his Q. The trailer not only pokes fun at Van Damme's status as a past-it star, but also at action movie tropes, like all the bad guys conveniently attacking the hero one at a time.
Oh, and the real-life JCVD was supposedly fired from his title role in Predator because of his unshakeable belief that the Predator should kickbox. Just a fact that bears repeating.
