The last year of pop superstar Prince is going to be explored in a brand new documentary.

Produced and directed by Adrian Sibley, Channel 4's Prince's Last Year will track Prince's final 365 days, from a secret show at The White House to his Piano & A Microphone solo shows.

"With no backing dancers or theatrics, this was the sound of Prince stripped bare," said Channel 4 of those last live dates.

"The simplicity of these performances showed Prince in reflective mode, all the more poignant in hindsight, as these would be his final shows."

The hour-long film will include contributions from the likes of CeeLo Green, George Clinton and Rev Al Sharpton.

Especially focused on his final days, it also includes interviews from Van Jones, Eryn Allen Kane and Prince's ex-girlfriend Andy Allo.

As well as looking at his musical output, the film will examine Prince's addiction to painkillers that led to his death from an accidental overdose, sparked by his chronic hip pain from years of non-stop live shows.

Prince died last year at the age of 57 in an elevator at his home at Paisley Park.
