Louis Smith may have won his second Olympic silver medal last night but that's not what everyone is bothered about.

After finishing second in last night's pommel horse final, Louis ended up defending himself on Twitter after he appeared not to congratulate fellow teammate Max Whitlock, who took gold in the event.

Hitting back at critics, Louis wrote: "what are you on about.. I hugged both him an Scott after this routine and told him how proud I was of him."

Reassuring fans that he did in fact celebrate with his teammate, the gymnast said: "because it wasn't shown on camera doesn't mean I didn't show my respect. Ask max yourself then apologise".

Whether Louis behaved sportingly at the time or not, the silver medallist did at least take to Twitter to congratulate Max on his win, saying: "I'm so relieved. What a pommel final!! @maxwhitlock1 a true champion".
