Over the course of 26 seasons of The Simpsons Homer has occupied more than a 100 jobs, ranging from power plant CEO, to carnie cannon-ball fodder, to tobacco-infused tomato peddler.
Not very relatable, we think you'll agree. But professional too-much-time-on-their-hands-ers Vox have analysed Homers career trajectory, and found that it shows a striking resemblance to the state of the average working man's in America.
Over the years, his median salary never surpassed $40,000, which is well below the American average, but just about right for the kind of city he lives in (i.e. a city with an open tire-fire).
