Kirsty Gallacher is firing back at allegations from some viewers that she was "drunk" on Sky Sports News earlier this week.

There was concern for the veteran presenter on Tuesday (20 December) when she seemed to slur her words while promoting an interview with Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino on her newshour with Jim White.

According to The Sun, Kirsty was rushed to a local hospital in the middle of that Sky Sports News broadcast because of a combination of exhaustion and a virus. She has been recovering since.

However, Gallacher's spokesperson has strongly denied that she was intoxicated on-air: "She categorically was not drunk. Blood and urine tests at hospital showed no alcohol in her system."

On her own Twitter account, Kirsty thanked the doctors and medical staff at London's West Middlesex University Hospital for getting her on the road of recovery after this "nasty virus".

"Thank you for all your kind messages, feeling bit better, still not 100%. Being ill on live TV is horrid experience," she tweeted on Thursday (December 22). "Thank you to @Westmidhospital for your brilliant care. On the mend & hope to back on @SkySportsNewsHQ asap."
