Pity the poor cast of Game Of Thrones. Every time they sit down to a pre-season interview, the world - well, Reddit - is watching, ready to pick over their every utterance for any semblance of a clue about the show's plot.
Get it right, and they've bored fans with bland promises of 'epic events' (well, duh!). Get it wrong and (we imagine) HBO issues a written warning, after which they're formally beheaded. The crew can't win, basically.
Take for example Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, the man best known as one-handed sister-kisser Jamie Lannister, who let slip a hint of fairly seismic proportions during a recent joust with a journalist from The Daily Beast.
Asked about Jamie's relationship with newly-crowned Cersei Lannister, his on-off incestuous lover, the 46-year-old Dane said:
"He's not like his sister and brother, but he's been on the battlefield his whole life, and knows about people's weaknesses and loving someone unconditionally because he loves his sister unconditionally,"
"Plus, there are no other suitors. Well, that's not true… but he has to step up and take his father's place. Wow, I was about to reveal something from Season 7 and thought, 'What am I doing?'"
Too late, Nikolaj. Because on the world of GoT hype, what you've said is already enough to launch a thousand fan theories.
A new love interest for Cersei? Given she only seems interested in members of her own family and most of those have been murdered, we're going to go ahead and assume Tyrion returns to King's Landing and attempts the most unlikely pull of all time. Either that or a new Lannister cousin appears from nowhere. Probably that one, actually.
