It is no secret that Game of Thrones is a serious money machine for HBO, but the amount some of its cast are set to be paid might turn your stomach a little. Season 7's main five actors are reportedly to be paid up to £2 million per episode.

Per episode.

This would make them the highest paid TV actors in history, far surpassing the cast of both Friends and The Big Bang Theory who reportedly both earned up to $1 million per episode.

This season has cut down the number of episodes for this season which may be one reason the pay has skyrocketed, but it's likely also that the producers know they need to keep these crucial characters on board at any cost.

New contracts for Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau all involve complicated bonus clauses based on the percentage of syndication payments accrued from over 170 countries, the Express reports.

Make of that what you will in terms of who is still going to be standing at the end of season 7. Sadly, you'll have to wait until 16 July to see if they're worth the big bucks.
