Did A New Peaky Blinders Teaser Just Hint At A Major Plot Twist?

Or is something more subtle going on?

Naturally we're on the edge of our seats awaiting the return of Peaky Blinders. And naturally, the new series will be full of twists and turns as the Shelby family return to the mean streets of Birmingham (if you missed Cillian Murphy and writer Steven Knight discuss the new series at Esquire Townhouse, check it out).

But, other than that a few famous faces are set to join the cast, and a brief synopsis, we don't know too much about what might happen.

That is, until a short new trailer was released onto the web yesterday, before promptly disappearing.

And what it suggested wasn't particularly pleasant, especially for fans of a certain character.

In other words, now's the time to look away.

The new teaser – which you can still watch, albeit in a very grainy form, over at International Business Times – suggests that Tommy may square up once and for all against his frenemy, Alfie Solomons.

In fact, Tommy can distinctly be heard saying "The killing of Alfie Solomons is not going to help. This will be very bad for business."

But would they really kill off one of the most unpredictable and fun characters in the show? Either way, the loss of Tom Hardy would certainly be a blow.

But then, of course, this isn't the first time Peaky Blinders has teased a major death that didn't quite come to pass. And we'd put money on Knight and Co. laughing over a tumble of Scotch as they quietly release possible misinformation into the world. In other words, there's a chance they're playing the long game too – exactly like Tommy Shelby.

Here's hoping.

For now, all you can (and should) do is watch when the show returns this autumn. By order of the Peaky Blinders. (And Esquire).
