Now the series has overtaken the books, diehard Game of Thrones fans are being forced to deal with many of their favourite storylines and characters falling by the Westeros wayside.
One such season five casualty were the Greyjoys, who – save for Theon (sorry, Reek) – were dropped following appearances in the show's second, third and fourth seasons.
Well, following the news that Gemma Whelan will be returning as Theon's sister Yara, it seems the family are set to be expanded.
The ever-informative fan site Watchers on the Wall report that, not only will Borgen actor Pilou Asbæk play Theon and Yara's uncle Euron, but that filming for a key book moment has been sighted: the Iron Islands' kingsmoot.
For those of you scratching your heads, the kingsmoot is a ceremony at which a new ruler of the Ironborn is chosen.
Interestingly, though, Euron – known as Crow's Eye – is most memorable for wanting to find Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) so he can use her dragons to rule the seven kingdoms.
Could Euron save Dany from her Dothraki situation? Could the kingsmoot be Theon's salvation?
All questions that'll (hopefully) be answered when the show returns for its sixth season next spring. In the meantime, check out our predictions of what's to come.
