The year is 2039, and we still can't decided whether we're totally disgusted by the idea of a mayonnaise café or incredibly, incredibly on board.
But regardless of what we think, it's happening, and the chances are somebody you know is absolutely jumping for joy over the prospect of a place where everything is served with mayo and there's no awkwardness when they ask for their third helping.
Two Kewpie Mayo Cafes have just opened up in Nagoya and Toyko, with Kewpie apparently being the equivalent of Hellmann's in Japan since launching in 1925.
According to Hello Giggles, the brand was created by Toichiro Nakashima when he discovered the creamy, white condiment while he studied food production in the US. At the time, he came across the Kewpie cartoon characters created by Rose O'Neill, created his own mayo recipe and well, er, here we are.

The mayonnaise cafes will only be open from 1 March to 31 March in Tokyo, and from 3 April to 30 April in Nagoya. See you there?
