1 | Summer Vibes: Radio Rooftop's ME Ibiza Sessions

It just wouldn't be the August Bank Holiday if it didn't rain a bit, now would it? But in between that, we're actually set for a bit of sunshine. So grab that chance with both hands and get yourself to the Strand's Radio Rooftop on Sunday afternoon. Up on top of the ME London hotel, they are going full Ibiza style to celebrate the last hurrah of the summer holidays, with a brunch party and DJ sessions all afternoon, raving late into the evening. Headlining is Ibiza regular Anna Tur, making her London debut. Food comes from this year's rebooted weekend menu, containing hearty brunch staples like shakshuka, French toast, croque monsieur, and buttermilk chicken waffles with maple syrup, not to mention a pretty mean black pudding hash. And, of course, there's that Bloody Mary Bar – all to be enjoyed against one of London's most fabulous backdrops.

2 | Refined Mediterranean Sharing Plates: May Fair Kitchen

For those not quite so keen on the clubbing vibe, the new Mediterranean menu at the May Fair Kitchen is another delightful fine weather accompaniment. It is full of light, refreshing small plates of Italian and Spanish extraction, such as the bruschetta trio (with sweet cherry tomatoes, crab, avocado and chilli, and spinach and soft cheese), the Burrata and the crowd-pleasing Padrón peppers, roasted with a nice lot of salt. And those are just the antipasti. Move onto buttery queen scallops, beautifully served on a long platter, the succulent Chilean sea bass with salsa, or the lamb cutlets encrusted with gremolata. Top tip: if you go for the grilled chorizo, you get a seriously generous portion, best mopped up with some bread. They also do an excellent sangria made with white wine, in case you can't face the usual red.

3 | Champagne Terrace Action: Sea Containers at Mondrian London

Another al fresco option for the long weekend is at the Mondrian hotel, on the South Bank, where you can let the energetic tourists pass you by with a glass of bubbly in hand and a smug look on your face. The outdoor terrace has been done up in Hampton's style, so it's very simple, very stylish and yet got a homely sort of feel. The food is all light as a feather so it's the kind of place where you can eat everything in sight and still feel virtuous. Honest…It's all worth trying, like the tuna tartare, or the ceviche tacos with a kick of lime and chilli, or the clay-baked lobster served with tomato and rocket salad, or the good old lobster roll with a wasabi blast in the mayo to combat the sweet toasted brioche. If your mouth's not watering by now, you're clearly not human.

4 | Exquisite British Cuisine: Picture Marylebone

Last but not least, is a brilliant addition to Marylebone's gradually evolving restaurant scene with a second site from the trio behind Picture, on Great Portland Street. In case you haven't tried the original yet, this comes from three colleagues who met working at Anthony Demetre's Arbutus and Wild Honey restaurants. The two chefs and manager have taken their training in that delicate and detailed style of cuisine and created an easy-going neighbourhood restaurant that serves lots of petite plates, each guaranteed to excite. The best option is the highly reasonable tasting menu, which gives you their preferred selection – six courses for £40. The menu changes constantly, but you'll never go wrong with their beef bites to start, which are served on sticks with a wonderfully spicy sriracha sauce, or with the smoked pork, or the 28-day aged beef served with a devilish bone marrow crumb, rich red wine sauce and some suitably deep green veg. Whatever is on, you will eat well here, impress whoever you're with, and will be amazed that the bill didn't come to more considering the experience you get.
