Do you want to know what's better than beers with the boys on a Friday night? Beers with the boys on a Friday night where you don't have to queue, because you've got your own beer tap!
Devised by Barclays, the world's first contactless payment, self-service beer taps will be tested out by drinkers over this Christmas period.
Pay@Pump will let you order and pour your own pint and pay with a contactless card or device, by touching it on a pad at the base of the pump.
A prototype has already been installed in Henry's Café Bar in Central London, with plans afoot for more pumps very, very soon.
According to research carried out by Barclaycard, the average waiting time at the bar during the Christmas party season is 12 minutes per order, which equates to an unacceptable amount of time wasted while someone dithers over their order in front of you.
Tami Hargreaves, Commercial Director, Digital Consumer Payments at Barclaycard, said: "I'm sure everyone has been stuck behind the person who orders the most complicated cocktail on the menu or a round of ten drinks for their group of friends.
"When people told us that waiting time was one of their biggest annoyances, we wanted to help solve a common problem with a simple solution."
Tami, you're doing god's work.
