If, like some members of the Esquire team, you’re looking for excuses to avoid this month’s football overload - and no, it isn't because some of us are slightly bitter about our national sides not being in it - the summer festival season has arrived just in the nick of time.
So Esquire took a trip to the Isle Of White at the weekend (thus missing Robert Green’s howler) to see the likes of The Strokes, Jay-Z, Macca and Esquire favorites Vampire Weekend, Friendly Fires and, the real stars of the night (for our tartan-wearing correspondent anyway) Scottish rockers Biffo Clyro who had the dubious honour of playing during the England vs USA game.
But perhaps our favourite bit was traipsing back to our campsite to find Carling’s ‘local bar’ – a pop up pub complete with all the usual comforts of your local and ice cold draft beer where you could chill to the early hours listening to live DJ's drinking cool beers. The perfect way to forget the world cup madness – until England V Algeria.
