Elton John is known for his legendary balls (oh grow up) and this year is to be no exception.
As temperatures dip into single figures and that festive juggernaut called Christmas comes rolling into view, there can be no denying that winter is upon us. Handily, this also means the advent of the Grey Goose Winter Ball.
Taking place this Saturday, the ball will also be co-hosted by David Furnish and Kevin Spacey in aid of the Elton John AIDS Foundation. And the theme this year isabout as far away from grey, gloomy, post(?)-recession London as you can get: the event will see the landmark Battersea Power Station transformed into 1950s Cote D’Azur, complete with Riviera-themed poolside glamour, palm trees and pastel colour schemes.
Celebrities confirmed for attendance include Roland Mouret, Eva Herzigova, Giles Deacon, Khloe Kardashian and JLS, who'll be treated to live performances by chart-toppers Emeli Sandé and Labrinth.
Plus there’ll also be a charity auction where cocktail bars designed by Gareth Pugh, photographer Ellen Von Unwerth and designer Karim Rashid will be up for grabs. (What does Gareth Pugh’s cocktail bar look like? Well, it’s black and ominous, naturellement.)
Now in it’s sixth year, the Winter Ball has raised over £2.3m for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, by doing what Grey Goose do best – throwing a damn good party with lots and lots and lots of vodka.
