Another cabinet reshuffle

Since November 2006, Vita Audio has been quietly building a name for itself in the luxury radio niche, thanks in no small part to its carefully considered combination of lacquered cabinets, muted styling, and superior amplification. Joining its select range of solid sound systems (just three well formed audio solutions to date) is the R2i, a compact Hi-Fi incorporating digital radio, alarm clock, and iPod dock. Besides the usual Vita flourishes (removable puck-shaped remote, accessible headphone/MP3 sockets, tactile finish, etc) you can expect 20W of aural gratification. So confident is the Savoy Hotel of the R2i's rousing credentials that it will be installing the tabletop stereo throughout its five-star bedrooms in time for its grand reopening next year. From £280, available from early August
