EAT: Sakura At Sake No Hana
'Sakura' is a big deal in Japan apparently, celebrating the fleeting spring cherry blossom season. What do you mean it's not in your calendar? All you need to know is that Mayfair Japanese restaurant Sake no Hana is marking the occasion by turning its downstairs bar into an impromptu Japanese garden and offering up a limited-edition menu which inludes sakura-infused cocktails, sushi and sashimi bento boxes and a seriously good cherry cheesecake. The combination of tasteful setting and light menu is bound to make you look thoughtful with whoever you take along. Runs until 20th June, Monday to Saturday. WATCH: Rooftop Film Club
Yes, it's that time of year when the allure of al fresco cinema on balmy summer nights is balanced by the realisation that it is still April. And this is England we're living in. And that wind doesn't seem to be letting up. But Rooftop Film Club knows how to do it right with deckchairs, blankets and a new venue on top of the Bussey Building in trendy Peckham, offering up a crowd-pleasing schedule in May which includes weekday screenings of The Graduate (May 7th), Some Like It Hot (May 12th) and Ferris Bueller's Day Off (May 13th). Remember, there's blankets. Starts May 1st
DRINK: Dandelyan At Sea Containers
If you want rooftop views without the windburn, the Dandelyan bar on the southbank is a venue well worth having up your sleeve. On the top floor of the Morgan Group's latest opening Mondrian London at Sea Containers, Dandelyan offers up a smart but not posey cocktail spot with incredible views across the river to the city and back towards the West End. Impressive in an 'I know-a-place' kind of way.
Open till 1.30am on Fridays and Saturdays but book ahead for a table +44 (0)20 3747 1000
WEEKEND BRUNCH: Hubbard & Bell
Located on the ground floor of the Hoxton Hotel in Holborn, this all day grill has the open and airy feel of a trendy American diner, serving up everything from prawns and fish, through chicken and ribs. If it can be grilled, it's on the menu, cooked up in the open kitchen, making for a buzzy weekend brunch spot if you're meeting up in town. The fillet steak with two eggs and hollandaise is hard to overlook. Be sure you don't try to be healthy with your sides and miss out on the fries which come with a roasted garlic aioli.
