For the historically inclined, Winston Churchill and Ian Fleming’s one-time drink of choice already holds a certain appeal.
But Boodles Gin – created by the Boodles Gentlemen’s Club in 1845 – has more to recommend it than heritage.
Unlike most gins, it contains no citrus, getting its sharpness from a combination of sage, rosemary, coriander and nutmeg instead. The result is a unique and welcome addition to anyone’s drinks cabinet.
Boodles hasn’t been available in the UK for a long time, but from 5 October the crisp blue and white bottle will be on the shelves at Selfridges and Sainsbury’s, setting you back a very reasonable £22.
