A Return to Grandeur at the Monkey Bar

Once frequented by luminaries including Tallulah Bankhead and Tennessee Williams, the Monkey Bar in the Elysée Hotel is an homage to New York’s Jazz Age. Enjoy Ed Sorel’s murals of New York icons, which includes Joe Louis, Fats Waller, George Gershwin and Irving Berlin. It’s the kind of place someone with a serious reverence for nostalgic style would imagine: in fact, it was reopened in 2009 by Vanity Fair Editor Graydon carter and his wife Anna.
