With London Cocktail Week just around the corner, it’s important to keep track of developments in the world of mixology. This one’s not for the faint-hearted.
Award-winning master mixologist Andy Pearson has created what might well be the world’s healthiest cocktail, the Belvedere Brainbox.
Garnished with a head of broccoli, the Brainbox is served in a martini glass and made with ingredients including avocado, egg, Belvedere vodka and salmon. Yes, salmon. The potential for disaster is clearly huge, but, and you’ll have to trust us on this, it actually tastes… really good.
Smooth, sweet, with a hint of sharpness - a bit like a Bloody Mary’s grown up brother. The drink should be sipped, not swigged, and you certainly couldn’t drink five, but as alcoholic experiments go the Brainbox is extremely rewarding.
For the brave and curious, the Brainbox can be ordered at Neo, Belvedere Vodka’s flagship UK bar (which, it should be pointed out, also serves a wide range of salmon-free cocktails).
