Hofmeister Helles was the only beer to be given five-stars at the ceremony after a series of blind tests were used to judge the competition.

The beer itself is a golden blonde colour and, according, to judge and chairman of the Beer Writers Guild Tim Hampson, "Is a gentle, highly complex beer, which showcases lager brewing at its best and the importance of good quality raw materials."
