Wine for the weekend - Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz

Didn’t manage to get last-minute tickets to Bestival? Never mind, Penfolds has an excellent excuse to open a bottle: its Bin 389, created by legendary winemaker Max Schubert, is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Back in the Sixties, this blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot was key to Penfolds’ success as a red wine producer - in fact, the 389 is often called “baby Grange” in tribute to the fact that it shares some key characteristics with its much more expensive relation.
