Reinventing the clock radio

If we’d never tried the Meridian F80 we’d have felt quite certain that only an idiot would spend £1,500 on a clock radio. In actual fact this ‘compact entertainment system’ is amazing and if we had a spare £1,500 we'd buy one right now.

It has a depth, clarity and richness of sound that is simply in a different category to any normal radio or micro stereo system. That it also has a CD player, DVD player and iPod dock means it’s all the AV equipment anyone needs in their bedroom (obviously you’ll need a screen to make use of the DVD player) in one neat, albeit reassuringly heavy, box.

From the Today programme in the morning to Miles Davis late at night this will become the second most important thing in the room after your bed.

None of which explains the baffling fact that it’s been ‘developed in collaboration with Ferrari’ - perhaps the Italian car company just supplied the exact shades of red, yellow, silver, white and black that the machine is sold in.
