Providing a healthy option for the people of Bermondsey, this cosy sandwich bar - which also doubles up as an independent gallery, provide traditional café indulgences (croissants, poached eggs) alongside their authentic banh mi.

The baguettes are baked in-house and filled with home made pate, pickled carrots, fresh chillies, roasted meats, pork sauce and finished off with a sprinkling of coriander.

Don’t leave without trying the Vietnamese coffee – using only ground coffee beans from the reputable Cà Phê VN they’re served in individual steel drip-filters and sweetened with condensed milk.

Authentic Vietnamese Baguettes are lighter and airier than regular baguettes so its no wonder Banh Mi Bay take pride in their dough, producing it from scratch each morning using only traditional techniques and ingredients.

City Caphe
Tucked away on a narrow lane off Moorgate, City Caphe’s bánh mì is the slick city workers alternative to a Pret sandwich.

With fillings ranging from roast pork to tofu, all baguettes are generously packed with fiery chilli, crunchy vegetables, fresh coriander and a spread of earthy liver pâté. As expected, it gets pretty busy at lunchtime, so get there early to avoid disappointment.

Banhmi 11
Fresh whole cuts of pork belly and beef sirloin are marinated in grated garlic, shallots and seasoned using their house blend every morning.

This is topped with their signature fillings of carrots, daikon (mooli) and pickled onions. Banhmi 11 began as a small stall on Broadway Market back in July 2009 but since then owners Van and Anh (both from Hanoi) have opened two shops - the second one having just opened last month.
