If you haven't tried Wahaca Southbank yet, make sure you drop in this month.
This temporary opening from the Mexican street food chain is built from 8 recycled shipping containers, arranged in Lego style over two storeys on the terrace of the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
The result is an eccentric success, offering a very different atmosphere from the loud and lively Wardour Street branch, Southbank has a laid-back riverside feel, even when at its full capacity of 130 diners. And that's pretty much every night.
The temporary feel almost adds to the Wahaca philosophy of Mexican market food, and the menu reflects this too with regularly changing Mexican specials and guest chefs offering up variations on the traditional dishes.
You can't book but you can happily wait at the bar for a table and turnover is pretty quick anyway. If you can, try to grab a table at the upstairs terrace for a house margarita and a pretty special view over the Thames.
