"The Meantime Yakima Red is the perfect partner for burgers that pack a flavour filled punch. A take on an American red ale, the ruby coloured ‘Yak’ offers a level of complexity like no other, expertly combining a spectacular hit of citrus with a restrained bitterness that delivers an intense, but never overpowering, flavour profile.
Burger match: "Perfectly paired with a burger imbued in umami flavouring, this brew is ideal for enjoying a thick chargrilled patty slathered in mature cheese, caramelized onions and bacon."

2 | God Lager, Nils Oscar
"God Lager, or ‘Good Lager’ in English is Swedish brewer Nils Oscar’s best seller for a very good reason – it's bloody good. Created using a slightly darker Vienna malt, to give a greater level of flavour and richness, the balance of Spalt Select and Tettnanger hops offer provides both flavour and aroma. Although light in colour, the profile is one that gives prominence to the bready overtones of malt, before becoming sweeter as the taste lingers on the palate and develops into an unmistakable toffee-infused, refreshing flavour.
Burger match: "A classic cheeseburger, though the subtle yet malty overtones demand something with a bit of zing to create contrast. A Hawaiian style pineapple topping works very well."
3 | Jaipur India Pale Ale, Thornbridge Brewing
"Bit of a wild card, but would strongly suggest pouring yourself an ice-cold pint of Thornbridge Brewing’s Jaipur IPA. A brew founded on contradictions, the sweet peaches-and-cream malt aroma manages to marry with all the typical hallmarks of a classic heavily floral IPA. Powerfully bitter, the overarching flavour comes from the juicy malts and ripe grapefruit flavours – intended to cut through the richness of meat and cheese to leave a truly refreshing taste overall."
Burger match: "A bold beer requires a bold burger so try it with a high-quality chargrilled patty, bacon and strong cheese."

4 | Westmalle Trappist Dubbel
"This is a rich and inviting Trappist style ale, exhibiting a deep mahogany colour with lively carbonation that mixes tropical and dark fruit with deep bready malts and caramel undertones."
Burger match: "For me, you really need a burger that compliments the profile and adds to the overall sweetness – something featuring lots of BBQ sauce and pulled pork. Lovely! "
5 | Anchor Old Foghorn, Anchor Brewing
"This one REALLY packs a punch. An 8.8% barley wine, Old Foghorn is rich with a reddy brown colour and an off-white head. Caramel and toast on the nose, both biscuit and roast malt flavours with some chocolate and plums the warm fruity flavours offer a full-bodied and smooth brew, with a little hop bitterness at the finish and relatively low carbonation."
Burger match: "This one needs a mature cheese to compete with the flavours on show – so grab a patty topped with stilton, a super-mature cheddar or ripened Parmesan."
