Following the success of his Horsham outpost, Executive Chef Scott Hallsworth, formerly of Nobu, has opened a second of his Wabi restaurants in Holborn. As you’d expect, Wabi London is a sleek, high-end affair, serving modern Japanese cuisine with a flourish (by an ultra-friendly team of Onitsuka Tiger-clad staff).

Those with the time and ambition should tackle the tasting menu, which includes flawless sashimi, superbly tangy beef fillet tataki served with onion ponzu and garlic crisps, and tempura-battered langoustine.

The wine list is strong (and there’s a sommelier on hand to ensure your drinks mesh with your order) but make sure you dip into the range of shōchū-infused cocktails (shōchū is, of course, a Japanese spirit similar to vodka), served both at the bar and to your table.
