The "No Reservations" restaurant trend shows no sign of ending, but visiting them has just got a little easier thanks to Google Maps.
Their "Popular Times" function has been a feature on Google for a while, showing when restaurants bars and shops hit their peak times so you can carefully avoid.
But now the feature has been enhanced so you can follow how busy a restaurant or shop is in real time on the new iOS update. Instead of a static bar that shows average business for a restaurant the tool accounts for crowd traffic using real-time data.
The new tool appears in pink on the graph against the average and the"live" button shows a statement in gray on the current status of the restaurant e.g. "not too busy" or "a little busy."
According to Apple Insider, "The addition of real-time data helps the tool account for special events, holiday traffic and other unforeseen situations."
So you'll never again have to sigh with frustration at turning the corner to an unexpected crowd of 50 strong at your favourite burger joint.
