The annual NYC retail migration is fast approaching. Hotels are filling up quick, so if you’re looking for somewhere to stay (and your budget is, fluid, shall we say) the brand new suites at the Soho Grand Hotel come highly recommended.
Boasting directional design from one William Sofield –Tom Ford’s creative partner back in his Gucci days – the suites, of which there are ten in total, are nothing if not eye-catching.
Sofield’s specific aesthetic, all Moody shades and low level lighting, comes punctuated with glimpses of New York’s architectural heritage - think cast iron motifs and concrete pillars.
The pared-down rooms (bar a few animated wallpaper prints) feature beds with mattresses piled so high you’ll want to plant a flag on the pillow. With easily enough room to accommodate four people - though, being the bed hogs that we are, we wouldn’t advise more than two - the suites come complete with space for work, play and all that’s in-between.
Rooms at the Soho Grand start from USD 995. The Soho Grand Hotel, 310 West Broadway, NY10013. www.sohogrand.com
