Is this the best bedroom in Britain?

Why Belgraves' penthouse is the perfect pad...

When the Thompson Hotels group opened its new Belgraves accommodation on a residential street in west London earlier this year, we were most taken with the chichi Mark Hix restaurant in the basement — he is Esquire’s resident chef, after all. In retrospect, we should also have been looking up — or, more specifically, to the top floor of the hotel, where another gem was hiding. Spread over 70sq m, the Belgraves’ penthouse is, by our estimation, among the best in London. Aside from your standard country-sized bed, gigantic marble bathroom and generous fireplace, the en-suite guestroom, enormous outdoor terrace and sumptuous living room make this a passable template for your new flat — though we doubt you’ll replicate the view, or the well-stocked bar.
