Google are partnering with consumer electronics manufacturers and fashion brands to launch their first ever smartwatch, Android Wear.

As a companion piece to Android operated phones, the device is hailed as “information that moves with you”. In other words, the weather and upcoming meetings for the day as you wake up, traffic reports and new bulletins while you’re commuting, and nearby places to visit while you’re out.

Other attributes include a health and fitness tracker, and even a jellyfish-warning app if you’re thinking about a surf or swim along the coast. Pretty handy if you ask us.

The device's spoken system is somewhere in between Siri and Samantha. As long as you start with the words “OK Google”, it’ll let you know everything from the latest football scores and how to's and let you respond to text messages by simply saying “reply”.

The Android Wear doesn’t have a price point or official release date yet, but is expected to be released somewhere between April and June this year.
