1 | Your First Chance To See NASA Tear Up A Car Park In Their New Robotic Car

We know it’s only a matter of time until NASA get us all to Mars, and we’re 80% sure they’ve already discovered aliens, but their new MRV (Modular Robotic Vehicle) might just be a slight departure for the company.

Designed to handle the mean streets of both Earth and other planets, each of the electronic buggy-like vehicle’s four wheels are designed to turn 180 degrees, meaning parallel parking is set to become a doddle. With a top speed of 40mph and the ability to drive 62 miles on a single charge, the wayward teenagers of our future space colonies are going to have a lot of fun busting out donuts while listening to N.W.A in the red deserts of Mars.

2 | Your New Look At The End Of Humanity

Walking, eh? We’ve all done it, but word on the street is that perambulation is set to become so 2014 with a new GPS navigation system that steers your muscles for you, effectively putting your legs on ‘cruise-control’.

Developed by a team from the universities of Hannover, Stuttgart and Munich, the new tech is set to bring German efficiency to the simplest of human tasks by delivering weak electronic signals to your muscles via electrodes on the skin. It’s only in the concept stage at present, but prototypes have proved the ability to automatically help you avoid walking into lampposts next time you’re engrossed in reading silly tech stories on the internet.

3 | Your First Decent Cup Of Coffee (In Space)

Never mind the potentially fatal levels of radiation, the chance that your bone density will reduce to nothing and the crippling loneliness, the main thing keeping you awake at night when you’re in space (we imagine) is the availability of a good cup of coffee.

Thankfully, the ISSPresso is currently on its way to the ISS and will provide astronauts with just that. Developed as a collaboration between the Italian Space Agency, Argotec and Lavazza, the machine was originally designed by astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti who has been aboard the ISS (and presumably missing espressos) since November 2014.

Rumours a Starbucks regional manager has been smuggled aboard the space shuttle to help get that frothy milk pattern ‘just right’ remain unconfirmed.

4 | Your First Look At Smartwatch Gaming

With the abundance of smartwatches hitting the market, it was only a matter of time before watch-specific games started being developed. The forthcoming Apple Watch is the first device with the capabilities to bring near-iOS quality games to your wrist, albeit on a 38mm x 42mm screen.

Runeblade is one of the first of these games set to arrive with the Apple Watch in April and while it currently looks a little bit ‘Game Of Thrones on a budget’, it’s a strong indication of what to expect as these games develop over the next few years, or until C.O.D is available in 2020 (or so we hope).

Everyone grew up with a kid who used to “swim for the county” and would regale you with tales of their 3am sessions down the local leisure centre while over-bearing parents smugly sipped from a personalised ‘Coach’ thermos each morning.

Well, if a new Kickstarter gets its way, these swimming kids will have even more to be smug about as Swimmo is set to become the first smartwatch designed specifically for swimmers. As well as being waterproof (obviously) it comes with training apps to track your performance underwater, including speed, swim distance and the obligatory heart-rate monitor. It’s currently working steadily towards its target, so if you fancy improving that doggy-paddle, follow the link below.
