The newest proof dogs are the chillest: They love listening to reggae.

A new study analyzing dogs' responses to different genres of music found that, while dogs appear to have their own preference of music much like humans, they tend to respond most positively to certain kinds of music, including reggae.

"Overall, the response to different genres was mixed highlighting the possibility that like humans, our canine friends have their own individual music preferences," professor Neil Evans told NPR.

Researchers played the dogs five different genres of music, including soft rock, pop, classical, reggae, and Motown. (I'll give you a few seconds to picture dogs listening to Motown.) Because dogs are awesome, they seemed to like all the music, since they spent "significantly more time lyring and significantly less time standing" when music was playing.

However, researchers found that there were two particular genres that lowered the dogs' heart rates: soft rock and reggae. "We were keen to explore teh effect playing different genres of music had," PhD student Amy Bowman told NPR. "It was clear that the physiological and behavioral changes observed were maintained during the trial when the dogs were exposed to a variety of music."
