Intended to connect us but instead pitting us against each other on a daily basis, social media is slowly tearing the fabric of society apart. But what is the most terrible part of it, you ask?
According to a new survey, 'showing off' is the most abhorrent type of social media post because nobody wants to know how #Blessed you are. More than half of Brits said they couldn't stand Facebook boasting with self-pitying updates not far behind (You ok hun?).
The survey, conducted by Populus, asked over 2,000 Brits what wound them up the most on their feed out of categories like 'selfies', 'showing off', 'children' and 'traveling'. They then had to rate these and say whether they would ignore it, delete the person responsible or hide the posts from their timeline.
Men admitted to finding photos of other people's children on social media more irritating than women, you heartless bastards. Results also showed the older we get the less we are able to tolerate selfies, which leaves no hope for generations to come. Interestingly only a quarter of Brits will hide or delete a person from their newsfeed, which just goes to show how much bullshit we will tolerate.
Some good news that food, travel and pet posts were the biggest irritants for less than 10% of people, so continue to take those terrible airplane wing photos, because nobody cares.
