When it comes to ticking off the UK's iconic attractions, there's one place to be. Figures released by the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions show that the 10 most popular attractions in the UK are all located in the capital. And there's no sign of visitor numbers slowing down.
66,938,947 people – more than the total population of the UK - visited attractions in London in 2016 and for the 10th year running, the British Museum, home to the Rosetta Stone and the Mummy of Katebet, was placed in the number one spot. The National Gallery, which houses one of the largest art collections in Europe, also remained in second place with well over 6 million visitors. Here are the other cultural hot spots competing for the most favoured title.
