The staples of the wardrobe can, oddly, be some of the hardest things to find. We're here to help.
Jeans are easy to find - companies are falling over themselves to make simple indigo denim in varying degrees of selvedge. Trousers are a more difficult proposition.
It's a chicken and egg situation - more trousers aren't made because more men aren't wearing trousers, which does nothing but accentuate the situation.
The end result is that finding a pair of good wool trousers is a task that's becoming harder than defeating the final boss in Street Fighter IV Super Extreme Edition. But there are some companies who feel the same way we do, and they've done something about it.
One such company is Our Legacy. The Swedish label started out in streetwear, creating graphic print t-shirts. They soon shed all that, focusing on a range of well made and affordable staples.
Not wanting to get bogged down in staid traditionalism (read: clothes your Tory voting uncle likes), they make small collections of art inspired clothing alongside their staple collection, which they call 'the everyman collection'.
A great example of this is their trousers, which would look just as good alongside a matching blazer (which they've made) as it would with a t-shirt and and trainers. You could even wear it to fight the final boss in Street Fighter, although that won't stop you throwing the controller in frustration. (mr-porter, £160)
