Want List | Carven Bomber Jacket

Want List | Carven Bomber Jacket

There's no shortage of bomber jackets available in stores this autumn, so you'll need to go the extra mile for something really special.

As much as we love Drive, wearing a satin jacket to the pub is a bit much. And a plain bomber jacket, while nice, will look a bit boring with everyone owning one version or another.

A happy medium is this jacket. We can't say we'd ever thought a cable knit front would look good on a bomber jacket but we're glad to be proven wrong. And, most surprisingly, it was made by French label Carven. Not head of Carven? We don't blame you.

Formerly a French couture house, Carven relaunched in 2009 with a women's ready to wear collection. The menswear line followed soon after, focusing on everyday items that any guy wants in their wardrobe. So no knee length t-shirts or trousers with attached skirts.

Items are easily wearable but still stand out, looking stylish but avoiding try-hard. Wear it with a polo shirt, black jeans and a pair of Jack Purcells and do your best Gosling starey look for maximum effect. Just leave the hammer at home. (Browns, £610)
