Want List | Varsity Cardigan

Monsieur Lacenaire came out of nowhere a few seasons ago with their interesting but still wearable knitwear. Now they've decided to up the ante by making their staple varsity cardigan out of a fine knitted Alpaca wool.

And why is Alpaca wool a big deal? Let us explain.

Originating in Peru, Alpaca's were domesticated for over 5,000 years. They were originally used for food and transportation before people discovered that their wool was rather special.

The Alpaca's wool is as soft as cashmere while being lighter than sheep's wool, making it preferable to cashmere for some.

There's two varieties of alpaca and, as Monsieur Lacenaire use superfine alpaca, it's likely to have been taken from the rarer Suri Alpaca.

So what does all this amount to? An amazing cardigan you can wear from now until the weather turns damp. The only problem you'll have is stopping strangers from feeling up your cardigan. (£300, mr porter)
