Style Spotlight | Javier Bardem

Style Spotlight | Javier Bardem

Javier Bardem only played a serial killer once but it's testament to his acting skills that no one had the cojones to tell him this look isn't becoming of an international movie star.

What it does do is demonstrate how not to do summer 'smart casual' on an evening about town.

The outfit starts off well enough, the blazer fits well. The shirt's a little Rico Suave in the button area but we'll put that down to the heat. Then it's all downhill.

There's the denim - if it's hot out, a pair of lightweight chinos does the job better. We think a navy pair (£179, My-Wardrobe) would fit the look Bardem's going for.

The worst thing about this look are the items on Bardem's feet. We're sure he think they make him look sporty. They make him look like a man who uses his workout trainers on social occasions.

Instead, these Buttero trainers (£145, Superdenim) are casual enough to still feel like you're being all laid back whilst looking good enough to be worn with a blazer. They're a footwear win-win. No need to thank us Javier, we're here to help.
