The 10 Best Pairs Of Luxury Trainers For Men

It's time to take your trainer collection to the next level

When it comes to trainers we want leather, suede, hide and premium nylon; the blood, sweat and tears of a thousand Italian craftsman and 10,000 hours of research into the perfect sole. We've had enough of beaters and day-to-day pairs, now we want... luxe.

For those of you also looking for trainers that can be worn with a suit, stylish sweatpants or your very best pair of jeans, we've scoured the internet's most-rarified corners in search of the highest-quality kicks around.

Tread carefully.

Gucci

The most popular trainer from the hottest brand in the world, the Ace takes the well-trodden tennis shoe and 'Gucci-fies' it with all sorts of mad embellishments and fancy Italian flourishes.

We like these new dragon ones because, sure, they're a bit mad, but not too mad.

Also, they look great with shorts... and most other things.

Like Vans Authentics, but made out of leather. If you own a longboard, but also have a mortgage, then these are the trainers for you.

Givenchy

The jazziest, snazziest, razziest(?) luxe runners (don't run in them) around, these retro Givenchy sneakers have our vote because of their instantly recognisable coloured accents, sleek shape and the fact they're made in Italy. So you know they're good.

Very good.

No one does minimalism better than the Scandinavians, and no one does Scandinavian minimalism better than Stockholm's coolest brand, Acne Studios.

You do the maths with these...

Hender Scheme

Hender Scheme is a strange one: the tiny Japanese label takes classic trainer styles by the likes of Nike, adidas, Reebok and, in this case, Vans, before totally re-crafting them out of ridiculously high quality materials without a semblance of branding and a price tag that will make you wince.

As a concept it shouldn't really work, but it does, and the results are pretty beautiful.

Common Projects

A dead-set certainty when it comes to any talk, or list, of quality, simple trainers, no proper sneaker rotation is complete without a pair of Common Projects.

These new season Achilles Low are hewn from suede so soft you'll want to give your screen a little stroke.

Nobody's watching.

Y-3

adidas and Yohji Yamamoto's collaborative label, Y-3 make LUXE sportswear that can be typically described as 'subdued' (read: grey and black... but very nice) colour spectrum. So for them to make a pair of trainers in forest green is pretty big news.

Paul Smith

While we're big on Stegosaurus' right now (they were vegan, don't you know?), Paul Smith is championing the T-Rex as his brand's dinosaur ambassador this season.

With trainers like these, it's hard to argue against him, really.

Golden Goose Deluxe Brand

Golden Goose has been making distressed trainers since before Vetements was a glint in Demna Gvasalia's eye.

This pair is made out of lovely black suede with just the right amount of scuff on the midsole, to make it look like you've worn them in already.
