When it comes to style icons, few are as instantly recognisable as Jimi Hendrix. A force of frills, paisley and military tailoring, he was the embodiment of the Sixties and swinging London.
2016 marks a half-century since the guitarist arrived in the British capital and started on the path from relative unknown to global star, but his style is as appealing as ever, as Pretty Green's new collection demonstrates.
Made in collaboration with the Hendrix estate, the new collection features tees, shirting outerwear and accessories that emulate his signature style.
"Pretty Green's hand painted prints and graphic artwork incorporate original material from the Hendrix archive," says Jimi's sister Janie Hendrix, "giving this one of a kind collection a real edge. These pieces have an incredible authenticity about them and we are very proud of what has been achieved."
A kaftan-type top with paisley detailing down the front is one stand out piece, while the double-breasted overcoat is reminiscent of the original Hussar's jacket with which Jimi became synonymous.
For those that want to emulate the man but aren't sure about going full-hippy, then there are plenty of pieces in the collection – jersey seats, graphic tees – that pay homage to Hendrix without mirroring his bold look. But if you ask us, it's best to go all in. It's what Jimi would have wanted.
