Launched in 2001 by Matthew Murphy and Kirk Beattie, b Store have been in our sights ever since they moved to Savile Row back in 2006. We spoke to Matthew Murphy to find out his five favourites from their autumn collection.
1 Contrast heavy leather sole burgundy derby shoe (above)
"A classic shoe with a modern feel which comes from the heavy leather sole. After a couple of months when it has a worn character, this shoe will look even better, we feel this is the 'new' signature shoe."
2 Boiled wool/cord mix biker jacket
"Our inspiration for AW11 came from Gus Van Sant's "My Own Private Idaho" and a key look throughout the movie is Keanu and his biker jacket. With classic pieces such as a biker, we really don't believe in trying to re-design/invent them but we wanted to give it a b-Store twist by producing the jacket in fabrics used elsewhere in the collection, resulting in the boiled wool/cord version."
3 'b Store loves Liberty' floral puffa blazer
"A popular style from our AW11 Liberty collection. We designed this with press in mind and were pleasantly surprised at how well it was received. Definitely a statement piece but for us represents the feel of the capsule collection we created with liberty fabrics, fun, modern and most importantly new."
4 Double-breasted jacket
"We have been pushing the db blazer for a couple of seasons and personally I have always preferred to wear this style. It feels modern, younger and less sartorial when made with a softer construction and in less formal fabrics, like this cotton canvas option. Mixed with a good white tee, neckerchief, midwash denim and a high shine derby shoe, it's a great look!"
5 Western jacket
"The western denim jacket was featured heavily in the collection and we created several different versions that filled different roles. My favourite was the boiled wool with shearling collar and lining. A winter casual jacket, it'll definitely keep you warm. There are two other versions, one within the liberty collection that is in classic denim but with our chosen liberty fabric print on the top yoke."
