While we might not totally endorse every mind-bending outfit that Pharrell Williams shares with the world, every now and again his out-there aesthetic hits the right note.

Taking to the trend-setting streets of Paris, the pop culture polymath went for a typically daring ensemble that featured a mixture of high fashion and casual sportswear pieces.

And actually, we quite like it.

According to menswear convention, at the age of 43 Pharrell really has no business going anywhere near a slouchy fit of red polyester sweatpants, faded sweathirts and oversized overcoats... with Chanel shades to finish it all off, of course.

But he gets it right by tapping into a growing trend of mixing as many of your traditional pieces with the more casual elements of your wardrobe as possible.

Tricky as they may be to pull off, combos like sweatshirts and formal trousers or sweatpants worn with a heavy wool overcoat (as oversized as possible, please) are now part of the street style du jour, further demonstrating the blurred lines (hahaha) between high fashion and street style.

Remember, though, Pharrell does get a certain amount of leeway for being, well, Pharrell. Any other men of his vintage would be advised to approach this exact look with caution.
